GENERAL COSMETOLOGY: For a full time student (35 hours/week) it will take 10 months to complete the 1500 hour program. It can take up to 18 months for part time students.
1) General Cosmetology - A program not less than fifteen hundred (1500) hours of training and general instruction shall be required as a prerequisite to qualify for examination in cosmetology. The textbook adopted is the Standard Textbook of Cosmetology, published by Milady Publishing Company. A complete course of cosmetology shall consist of the following:

HYGIENE AND SANITATION Instruction in sanitation, sterilization, hygiene, lighting and ventilation.

HAIRDRESSING Instruction in cleaning hair, shampooing, haircutting, clipping, singeing, dyeing, tinting, bleaching, scalp massage, brushing and combing, curling, permanent waving and reconditioning hair, wiggery, thermal pressing, iron curling, chemical relaxing, etc.

MANICURING Instruction in the construction, filing and shaping of the finger nails, loosening and removing the dead cuticle and the art of hand and arm massage.

COSMETIC THERAPY Instruction in skin types, various facial massages, cosmetics, packs, the art of makeup, eyebrow arching, eyebrow/eyelash dyeing.

The school shall provide a minimum of five (5) hours each week in the theoretical instructions for each student enrolled. The time of the classroom instruction class shall be registered with the Board. Students shall not be permitted to leave the classroom during the theoretical instruction or work on a patron.
The student completing the basic cosmetology program will be qualified to enter the field of hairstyling as a hair cutter or hair stylist upon successfully passing the examination for licensing.

A make-up fee of 4.00 / hour is charged for every hour needed to reach the state minimum requirements after the contract completion date and grace period of 80 hours are reached.
